A Writer's Indulgence: Blogging in Bed
Mood:  hungry
Now Playing: my dog's somewhat melodic snoring
Today was quite an eventful day! It started off pretty normal, wake up, eat breakfast, wash dishes, play with dog...you get the idea. Then came the afternoon errands. I got those overwith and then the fun started!
First, I got a call from my most wonderful friend Laura. She and I have been like sisters since the first grade. We have made it to many milestones in our friendship, and I thank the good Lord for placing her in my life. When we were only 15 years old, her family moved out of state. She still lives in the same place, but though many miles separate us, the flame of our friendship has never weakened. I was Maid of Honor in her wedding, and now the next big thing...
Laura is going to have a baby. There, I said it. It seems so surreal. Where does time go? I could have sworn that just yesterday we were playing pranks on her younger brother and playing barbie doll in the back yard. Sometime between yesterday and today, we grew up. It is still hard to believe that those times are gone.
Yes, a new day has dawned. My best friend is going to be a mommy! I am experiencing such a mixture of emotions; I can only imagine how she feels! I couldn't be happier for her. I know she will make a wonderful mother.
Well, compared to that, the rest of my day seems pretty boring. I'll just give you a quick summary. I went to the Arts Festival at my school with a couple of friends. We did about an hour's worth of browsing and just before the symphony was supposed to start their show, we got hit with a thunderstorm. So the show was canceled, all the people scurried to their cars, and the Festival shut down for the night. Oh well, maybe we'll see the symphony next year. $3 for parking is a pretty cheap price to pay for such enriching entertainment.
Today has now become tomorrow. It is 12:30am and time for me to go to bed. Wait, I'm already there. So if I can just...reach...the...lamp...I'll turn the light off and go to sleep. I bid you goodnight and sweet dreams and all that stuff about the bed bugs...ew...bugs, ok think happy thoughts. Happy thouggghhhtttsss...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ***

My First Blog!
Mood:  chillin'

There he sleeps, basking in the glow of the afternoon sunshine as it crawls across the floor of my living room. Petey is a sweet dog. He never fails to surprise me every day. He always seems to know when I’m not feeling well. I lie here, sprawled across the sofa in my pajamas. He hasn’t barked in hours, and that is unusual for a Chihuahua as you probably already know. By now, Petey would normally be sitting very near the front door, staring at me and every so often, letting out a little whimper to get my attention. This means “Momma, it’s time to potty so I can make room for more food!”  But he has left me alone since his first walk this morning.

You see, my day started by going to work and then spending most of the next hour or two in the restroom with my face very uncomfortably near the toilet seat that most of my department uses. Of course it wouldn’t have been much better at home, but at least I would know it was my germs pole vaulting onto my face.

“No, I’m not pregnant. Yes, I’m sure.” I work with nurses so I find myself saying this often. The doctor says it’s my gallbladder. Fantastic. I have to give up fatty foods AND coffee, she says. I simply refuse. I have to have my cup of coffee in the morning. Just one, that’s all I ask. Okay, I can plan my meals a little better so that I don’t get too much fat in one sitting. That’s fair enough, but coffee too? Come on!

My faith teaches that healing is in the cards for everyone who wants it and believes God can do it. I absolutely believe God can heal me and you bet I want it. To tell you the truth, I have an easier time believing that miracles can happen to other people rather than to me. I’ve noticed that’s a problem many people have. It’s easy to believe enough for someone else because there’s not as much risk of being let down. Well, I guess I have some praying to do. Please excuse me...
